2008 Songbook is the third edition of this wine and is our most hedonistic offering yet. Dark purple color is indicative of the purity of fruit in 2008. Opulent wild blueberry greets the nose and is accented by lavender and allspice. Silky tannins offer a counterbalance to a dense mouth-feel to ensure a persistent finish.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Fruit for the 2008 Songbook was sourced from three of David Abreu’s personal properties located in diverse terroirs in the St. Helena and Howell Mt. regions of the Napa Valley. These properties produce fruit of uncommon character resulting from proprietary clones, extremely low yields and meticulous farming. The result is a winemakers dream.
Production Notes
Grapes were picked in the darkness of the early morning hours and immediately subjected to rigorous selection by our berry-by-berry hand sorting process. The fruit was gently delivered to tank by our unique crane system, minimizing disruption of berry integrity. Cold soaks lasted four to eight days and fermentations were managed by a combination of delestage, punchdowns and pumpovers. Extended maceration for five weeks fine-tuned our tannin profiles, and allowed us to perfect mouth feel and complexity. This wine underwent eighteen months of elevage in new French oak.
Other Notes
A dry winter resulted in low soil moisture at the start of the growing cycle. The vines began early growth with a gentle warm spell in March. A sustained spring frost season trimmed yields. Foggy mornings helped to retain the integrity and freshness of the fruit, while classic, warm Napa afternoons carried ripeness toward harvest. Tiny berries the size of wild blueberries and near record low yields produced flavors of remarkable depth and complexity.
