Vineyard Notes
The vaunted Ferrington Vineyard is located just outside the town of Boonville, an area of Anderson Valley that is more protected from the maritime breeze, giving the wine from Ferrington a classically fruit-driven and opulent Pinot Noir character. This wine is made of a blend of Pommard, Wädenswil, and the Dijon clones 115, 777, and 828.
Production Notes
The fruit was harvested in two picks on August 26th and 30th at an average of 23.8° Brix. It then went through a six-day cold soak at 50°F, a seven-day uninoculated primary fermentation peaking at 90°F and was pressed at dryness. The wine was aged fifteen months in 60-gallon French oak barrels. This vintage marks a transition away from the use of new barrels on our vineyard-designated wines, which we hope will lend greater focus on the terroir of the sites we love.
Winemaker Notes
The signature aromatics of Ferrington Vineyard, always among the most distinctive Pinot Noir sites in Anderson Valley, leap from the glass with intense alpine strawberry, crushed ripe raspberry, and cinnamon. In the mouth, the flavors are a little darker with rich layers of Bing cherry, cola, and toast. Mouthwatering acidity carries the palate to an expansive finish. While this wine is drinking lovely now, it will age gracefully for at least a decade.
