2022 FEL Chardonnay, Ferrington Vineyard, Anderson Valley
available
This is the second vintage of a single vineyard bottling of Chardonnay from Ferrington Vineyard and it captures what makes the site so special with the brightness and purity of fruit flavor. Aromatics of Satsuma tangerine combine with Bartlett pear, beeswax, and honey. In the mouth, the fruit flavors are wide ranging from apricot and nectarine to prickly pear and kiwi. This is an entrancing Chardonnay that will gain complexity for many years to come.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The vaunted Ferrington Vineyard is located just outside the town of Boonville, an area of Anderson Valley that is more protected from the maritime breeze, resulting in bright wines with both tension and fruit purity. This Chardonnay is a selection of barrels from a block of Robert Young clone that has long been a favorite in our cellar.
Production Notes
The fruit was harvested on September 7th at 22.6 Brix, whole cluster pressed to tank. Fermentation occurred in a mix of 500-liter oak puncheons, 30% of which were new. The wine was aged on its lees for 14 months, without any secondary malolactic fermentation.
