Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The fruit for this wine was sourced from the Hein Vineyard located in the “Deep End” of Anderson Valley near the town of Navarro. The vineyard’s close proximity to the Pacific Ocean encourages bright citrus flavors and refreshing acidity in this succulent wine.
Production Notes
The fruit was harvested on September 16th at 22.8° Brix, whole-cluster pressed to tank and settled for 24 hours. The wine was fermented in a 900-gallon French oak oval cask and neutral oak barriques, and aged for 5 months sur lie. This vintage is the first to be bottled in lightweight glass, with no tin capsule, and a biodegradable, guaranteed Diam Origine cork. These packaging changes signal our commitment to sustainability as we strive to ensure the longevity of our vineyards, climate, and terroir.
Winemaker Notes
Our Anderson Valley Pinot Gris is always the first wine of the vintage to be bottled, after 5 months of aging. Aromatics are where the variety always shines, bursting out of the glass with kiwi, stone fruit, and honeysuckle. This vintage has exceptionally bright and succulent acid, with a fine, chalky texture from the variety’s thick skins, which we strive to handle delicately. The palate is mouth-watering, with grapefruit peel and a salty melon finish that greets spring and beckons summer.
