Expressive aromatics of quince and tropical fruit mingle with subtle nutmeg, white hibiscus, and oyster shell. The palate does the same dance – fleshy and textured, yet taut and driven, with a long chalky finish.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The vaunted Ferrington Vineyard is located just outside the town of Boonville, an area of Anderson Valley that is more protected from the maritime breeze, resulting in bright wines with both tension and fruit purity. This Chardonnay is a blend of Mount Eden, 76, Wente, and Robert Young clones planted alongside one another. These blocks have long been the driving force behind our Anderson Valley Chardonnay blend, and with the 2021 vintage, we are at long last giving them the spotlight they deserve.
Production Notes
The fruit was harvested in three picks between September 12th and 16th at an average of 22.2° Brix, then whole-cluster pressed to tank. Fermentation occurred in a mix of 500-liter oak puncheons, 25% of which were new. The wine was aged on its lees for 14 months, without any secondary malolactic fermentation, then blended into stainless steel for the two months before bottling.
Winemaker Notes
With this wine, we have done something new and exciting – we have lovingly applied our Savoy Vineyard Chardonnay winemaking to the Ferrington fruit. The contrasts are thrilling, with freshness that doesn’t sacrifice sophistication. Longer barrel ageing and a judicious amount of new oak lend depth and nuance to the bright, zesty character that is classic to Ferrington. Expressive primary aromatics of quince and tropical fruit mingle with subtle nutmeg, white hibiscus, and oyster shell. The palate does the same dance – fleshy and textured, yet taut and driven, with a long chalky finish.
